{"id":825,"date":"2013-10-03T00:25:36","date_gmt":"2013-10-03T00:25:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.desdemona.org\/blog\/?p=825"},"modified":"2014-11-12T21:39:19","modified_gmt":"2014-11-12T21:39:19","slug":"desdemona-chiang-returns-to-univ-of-washington-to-direct-the-real-inspector-hound","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.desdemona.org\/blog\/desdemona-chiang-returns-to-univ-of-washington-to-direct-the-real-inspector-hound\/","title":{"rendered":"Desdemona Chiang Returns to Univ of Washington to Direct The Real Inspector Hound"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Washington School of Drama announced today that alumnus Desdemona Chiang will return to her alma mater to direct Tom Stoppard\u2019s\u00a0<em>The Real Inspector Hound,\u00a0<\/em>to open the season at the school\u2019s Floyd and Delores Jones Playhouse.<\/p>\n<p>Since earning her MFA at Washington in 2009, Ms. Chiang has continued to distinguish herself in the theatre world, earning the\u00a0Sir John Gielgud Directing Fellowship from the SDC Foundation, founding the critically hailed Azeotrope theatre in Seattle, and currently serving as Associate Artistic Director of Impact Theatre in Berkeley.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn\u00a0The Real Inspector Hound\u00a0Stoppard unveils his brilliant sense of the absurd. It\u2019s an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery parody set at an isolated country manor. Theatre critics Moon and Birdboot are swept into the whodunit they are viewing and must navigate the satirical trappings set by mysterious strangers, a bitter love triangle and, of course, a madman on the loose! As the adage goes, \u201cDying is easy, comedy is hard!\u201d This play was specifically selected so the talented third-year PATP students can fine tune their comedic acting skills.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Performances are Oct 16-27, Wednesday-Saturday at 7:30 pm. Sundays at 2 pm. Season subscription packages are on sale now and range from $54-$96. Student subscriptions are $54. Single tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Student tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Discounted Senior\/UWAA\/UW Staff tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door. Preview performances are always $10 for everyone.
