DESDEMONA CHIANG (she\/her) is a Taiwan-born American director\/writer working for the stage and screen, creating and developing stories about unique intergenerational immigrant experiences.<\/p>\n

Her films have screened at CAAMFest, Newport Beach Film Festival, Vancouver Asian Film Festival, HollyShorts, LAShorts, and DisOrient. She was part of the inaugural cohort of the Sundance Institute | The Asian American Foundation Fellowship<\/a>, which aims to improve AAPI representation in the film and television industries over the long-term by cultivating AAPI talent and elevating their stories.\u00a0She has developed work with the Sundance Episodic Program, Film Independent, The Orchard Project, The Writers Lab, and the WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Lab. Her TV pilot ZHIZHA! was developed as part of Film Independent\u2019s 2024 Episodic lab and winner of the SeriesFest Pitch-a-Thon and the ATX Festival Pitch Competition. She is developing and directing her first full-length feature, SOMETHING ABOUT THE TIDE (Tribeca\/AT&T Untold Stories finalist), and made her episodic directing debut on FIRE COUNTRY on CBS\/Paramount+. Her short film SEE YOU TOMORROW TOMORROW TOMORROW, featuring comedian Irene Tu and actress Lisa Lu, is currently in the film festival circuit<\/p>\n

Her stage directing credits include Oregon Shakespeare Festival (Ashland, OR), The 5th Avenue Theatre (Seattle), Guthrie Theater (Minneapolis), Alley Theatre (Houston), South Coast Repertory (Costa Mesa, CA), Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Baltimore Center Stage, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Studio Theatre (Washington DC), Long Wharf Theatre (New Haven, CT), Seattle Children\u2019s Theatre, and ACT Theatre (Seattle), among others. Her stage adaptation of Amy Tan\u2019s novel THE BONESETTER\u2019S DAUGHTER received its world premiere at Book-It Repertory Theatre in Seattle.<\/p>\n
